CT Scan (Computed Tomography)
Computed Axial Tomography, also referred to as CAT scan or CT scan, is a diagnostic procedure that uses special X-ray equipment to obtain cross-sectional pictures of the body.
AVETS has been performing CAT scans on site since 2006.
AVETS was the first veterinary hospital to perform spiral CT scanning on site in Western PA.
- CT imaging is commonly used to diagnose cancer, infections, trauma, and other disease processes by taking images of the head, spine, thorax, abdomen, bones and joints.
- Most CAT scans are completed in a fraction of the time of other advanced imaging—an important consideration for patients that are older or are in need of critical care because anesthesia is required for such studies.
- Critical Care Specialists are available to supervise anesthesia as needed.
