Joel Alsup, DVM, DACVS

“I know how much I love pets and how much they add to my
life. I know how stressful it is when one of my friends is sick.
Veterinary medicine allows me to help families understand what
is going on with their pet and how to get their buddy back up
and running. That can be very rewarding.”

Outside of AVETS, Dr. Alsup enjoys spending time with his two  
children, his Golden Retriever and Australian Shepherd, and three  
cats. He also enjoys fly fishing, biking and birding.

• Staff Surgeon: Michigan Veterinary Specialists, Southfield, MI, 1993-2008.
• Intern Director:  Michigan Veterinary Specialists, Southfield, MI,  2004-2008.
• Professional interests include all types of veterinary surgery including orthopedic, oncologic, thoracic, abdominal, and other types of soft tissue surgery.
